TAMPA, Fla. – Alachua County School Board Chair Tina Certain was sworn in as the President of the Florida School Boards Association (FSBA) at their General Membership meeting on June 8 in Tampa.

Certain was nominated and elected as President-Elect in 2022, making her the President this year under FSBA Bylaws.

Alachua County School Board Member Leanetta McNealy congratulated Certain at the June 20 school board meeting, saying, “In other words, not only is she handling the business here, she’s gonna be handling the business for the whole state. Can you even imagine that? I can’t.”

Certain thanked McNealy and said, “My duties here in Alachua County always come first, but I will be, as Dr. McNealy said, heading our state association.”

  • This is scary. As screwed up as our school board is making proper school choices for our childern. Now it will be screwed up for the entire state.

  • That’s really shocking…and distressing.

The work in Florida schools isn’t done yet – but thankfully, parents have more options than they used to with the school choice laws passed recently.

Time to get the word out to parents that their children don’t have to go to poorly run public schools.

    • Crazy, I know! Can you believe people actually bothered to go to college for 8 years to get a PhD?? What were they thinking?

  • Tina can’t run the incompetents on the local board. She won’t obey state law, and now she will represent ALL the school boards? That’s funny, sad but funny.
