Alachua County Sheriff Sadie Darnell announces that she is running for re-election
Press release from Darnell campaign
For over forty years, I have dedicated my life to the law enforcement profession. I chose to run for Sheriff in 2006 to focus on serving victims of crime and to continue my law enforcement career.
I was reelected in 2008, again in 2012, and again in 2016.
Prior to being Sheriff, I rose through the ranks at the Gainesville Police Department to the rank of Captain and retired in 2005.
My only career interest has been public safety – locally.
The knowledge and experience gained during my years of service makes me the most qualified candidate to continue to serve you.
I have built long-term, strong partnerships with the area police departments and have the endorsement of each of the neighboring county sheriffs.
I have had the immense privilege of working with the men and women of the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office who are well-trained and well-equipped and serve Alachua County with professionalism and integrity. This is evidenced by the achievement of the highest level of professional accreditation in every area: Law Enforcement, Combined Communications Center, and the Department of the Jail. I have established a strong team of very capable command staff who look forward to serving with me in the future.
Please compare the qualifications of all the candidates. You will find I have the proven experience, leadership and dedication to continue as your Sheriff.
Sadie Darnell, Sheriff
16 years as Sheriff is probably enough – Time for new Sheriff in town.
