Alachua County Sheriff’s Office says school threats circulating on social media are “not credible”
Staff report
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – In a social media post today, the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office said that a potential threat to schools that is circulating on social media has been investigated and found to be not credible. The list of schools included in the threat “has been shared multiple times over several days, and the schools on the list appear to change as it’s shared.” The Sheriff’s Office asks residents to “continue to be vigilant and stop sharing the post.”
Earlier this week, Alachua Chronicle learned about a threat made to Chiles Elementary on Monday, September 9. A Sheriff’s Office spokesman told us it involved a first-grade student at another school who sent a potential threat to a teacher at Chiles; the spokesman added that the threat may have been coerced by another student, and the investigation is ongoing.
What’s a 1st grader doing on social media? We had chalkboards and erasers when I went to school.
My question is: what kind of 1st. grader threatens a teacher?
