Alachua County Tax Collector’s Office offers self-service kiosks for vehicle registration renewals at two Publix locations

Press release from Alachua County on behalf of the Alachua County Tax Collector’s Office

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Alachua County Tax Collector John Power is pleased to announce the launch of a new convenient service for residents: self-service vehicle registration renewal kiosks are now available at two Publix supermarket locations.

These easy-to-use kiosks enable customers to renew their vehicle registration in just a few minutes, without an appointment, and without waiting in line. With just your renewal notice, license plate number, and a form of payment, residents can walk out with your new decal in hand.

The locations are at:

  • Publix at The Exchange (3720 NW 13th St., Gainesville).
  • Publix in Jonesville (14130 W. Newberry Road, Newberry).

“Our goal is always to make services more accessible and convenient for Alachua County residents,” said Tax Collector John Power. “These new kiosks provide a fast, secure, and user-friendly way to complete a common transaction while doing your grocery shopping.”

The kiosks are available during regular Publix store hours and support credit/debit card payments. This new option is part of the tax collector’s ongoing efforts to improve service delivery through innovation and community partnerships. The kiosks are operated by a third-party vendor and additional fees apply.

  • Stop wasting our money and your time. Everyone can already do this from their phone or computer via your website.

This only profits the third party vendor. Why were they not named in the press release?

    • Many people either don’t have internet service or are not proficient using it for activities like renewing their vehicle license. This appears to be an inexpensive and easy alternative for those who might otherwise still go to the DMV office on the NW 34th St extension.

      • Says the mask wearing commie Jazz that despises the Ozzie & Harriet nuclear family and infers that being raised by chimpanzees is better. He always has to be an ass somehow. You can always just renew your tag by regular mail.

        • Sorry that snowflake Sherman is triggered by masks and doesn’t understand evolution and our arduous path as humans to world domination, but of course he and others can still use the mail for their license renewals while others with good reason may prefer alternatives like the one described in this article.

Or maybe, like with masks, some horrible event in his childhood causes flashbacks whenever he sees a kiosk.

    • If you renew online there are additional fees as well, usually not very much. Everyone can decided for themselves if they are worth it.
