Alachua County to host Open House for Kincaid Loop Trail Project

Press release from Alachua County
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alachua County will host a community open house for the Kincaid Loop Trail project on Saturday, Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. to noon at the TB McPherson Center (1717 SE 15th St., Gainesville).
The open-house style event allows residents to drop in at any time during the two-hour window to view updated project designs and provide feedback.
The Kincaid Loop Trail is a planned 3.34-mile, 10-foot-wide shared-use path designed to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility in southeast Gainesville. The project includes stormwater enhancements, pedestrian lighting, and upgraded signage and pavement markings to support safer and more accessible multimodal travel.
The trail will follow Southeast 15th Street, Southeast 41st Avenue, and Southeast 27th Street.

It would be nice if this connected Lincoln, McPhearson, Boulware/Hawthorne rail to trails and Chestnut Parks. Can’t City and County get together on this…oversight or turf guarding?
SE 35th St would be a great connector since the roadway has ample room for a bike lane by re-striping instead of more paving and there is an unused public easement from 27th to 35th.
Our local government can’t seem to get together to do what is best for citizens. Not even for cyclists (no matter how much they like to virtue signal and pat themselves on the back on this topic.) Sadly. You have a great idea. Good luck getting them to do it in your lifetime.
