Animal Resources will be closed on March 11

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alachua County Animal Resources will be closed to the public on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, to allow staff to meet with top candidates for the Animal Resources Director position.

The shelter is expected to reopen during normal business hours on Thursday, March 12.

  • Apparently the “new” shelter supervisor Beverly D’Axzzo is one of the canidates. She has a horrible history with the shelter in Polk county.

    I would hesitate several times before highing anyone that is associated with the issues there. It seems the problems with Polk have followed someone here……
