APD investigating July 4 shooting

The Alachua Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that took place on July 4th. At approximately 4:00 a.m., officers responded to 14011 NW 158th Ave in reference to a person shot. A caller stated that the victim had been taken to Alachua County Fire Rescue Station 21 for treatment. Alachua Police arrived at Station 21 and identified the victim as a 54-year-old female from High Springs.

According to witnesses, a silver sedan drove by the above residence and fired several shots, striking the vehicle in which the victim was sitting. The silver sedan then fled the scene. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to her body and was transported to UF Health Shands Hospital where she remains in stable condition.

This is an ongoing investigation, and detectives continue to follow up on leads. A suspect has not been identified at this time. The Alachua Police ask that anyone having any knowledge of the incident contact us at 386-462-1396.     Nice neighborhood.
    However NONE of these can possibly be related to the 4K or 56 gangs, as the APD swears there are no gangs in Alachua.
    We are so sure new Alachua City Manager Latham will get the gangs under control and get the APD accredited, unlike previous city managers.
