April 2 Alachua County Commission Special Meeting

Press release from Alachua County
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Alachua County Commission will conduct a special meeting on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. The meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. The meeting is in the Grace Knight Conference Room on the second floor of the Alachua County Administration Building (12 SE 1st St., Gainesville).
The meeting can be viewed on Cox Channel 12, the AC TV app (Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Roku), the county’s Facebook site, or the county’s Video on Demand website.
In-person public comments will be taken for the agenda items, and the public will also have an opportunity to speak about items not on the agenda. Members of the public who wish to speak are asked to limit their comments to three minutes.
The meeting item of interest:
- Policy Review of Traditional Neighborhood (TND) & Transit Oriented Development
The TOD Transit Oriented Development is the county’s massive tax money subsidy for business along I-75, notably Celebration Point which recently filed for Bankruptcy. The Main Street Daily News and TV-20 have aired multiple stories, but the Alachua Chronicle has for some reason NOT run the story. Political pressure? AC is not doing itself a favor by showing its bias. Sad.
Or maybe we don’t have a newsroom full of reporters.
Just this week:
7-hour joint City of Gainesville/Alachua County meeting
City of Gainesville budget workshop
Alachua County Commission meeting
GRU Authority meeting
City of Gainesville General Policy Committee meeting
I’ve only had time to write about three of the five. Not every editorial decision is based on some fictional bias in your mind.
