BY JENNIFER CABRERA

Although the total number of cases jumped yesterday, the number of test results that came back was 4 times the number in recent days, so the percentage of tests that came back positive was still very low–about 3.1%. Cases continue to increase in long-term care facilities – 10 of the 21 new cases in the past 3 days have been in long-term care facilities.

According to the state dashboard, Alachua County now has 244 COVID-19-positive cases, up from 231 at this time yesterday. One death (total) has been reported.

31 residents or staff in long-term care facilities have been diagnosed with COVID-19, up from 26 at this time yesterday. According to the latest report, there are two long-term care facilities in Alachua County that have reported positive cases in residents or staff: Oak Hammock and Parklands Care Center.

Available bed capacity in Alachua County is 33.37%.

The state has 30,533 cases (an increase of 885 from this time yesterday on a 68% increase in testing from the day before) and 1,046 deaths (an increase of 59 from this time yesterday).

Dade County has 36% of the state’s cases. Broward has 15%; Palm Beach 9%; and Orange 4%. Alachua County represents about 1.2% of the state’s population and 0.8% of the state’s cases.

6,026 people have been tested so far in Alachua County (up 417 from this time yesterday), and 5,775 tests have come back negative, so 95.8% of the tests so far have been negative. Only 4.1% of the local tests have come back positive so far. (The numbers in the various categories don’t add up to the total number of tests listed on the dashboard, but since we don’t know which number is incorrect, we’re reporting them as they’re given on the dashboard.) No COVID-19 tests are pending in Alachua County, and 7 are inconclusive.

According to the daily report (note that the data in that report and the dashboard don’t always match up because they are published at different times), there are 188 cases in Gainesville, 12 in Alachua, 9 in Newberry, 7 in Hawthorne, 5 in High Springs, 4 in Waldo, 3 in Micanopy, 2 in Tioga, 1 in LaCrosse, 1 in Santa Fe, and 1 in Archer. • These updates are of little value when we have no faith in the reporting method.

The CV-19 virus has not been proven to exist and mostly elderly patients with comorbid conditions are being lumped into the tally of CV-19 deaths as admitted to by Deborah Birx.
