Employment Requirements:

  • 18 years old at the time of appointment or 16 years old with a high school diploma
  • United States citizen or permanent resident
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening
  • If driving is part of the job, applicants must have a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record
  • Used to have great wages and great benefits, not so sure now.
Unfortunately, they’re about as fiscally incompetent as the City of Gainesville.

  • They forgot the only requirement that matters these days… you had better be a DEI prospect or you are wasting your time! Little to zero doubt about it!

    • As I look back over the record of the number of times my mail was lost, late or not delivered at all I think that the only employees the USPS has currently are DEI employees. I have stood by and witnessed the mail carrier look at the numbers on the letters, look at my box, back down at the letters and just ended up stuffing all the mail in my box and it wasn’t even My mail.. Which begs the question–where did my mail go that day? And so many other days. If it is too difficult to match the numbers on the mail to the numbers on the box, maybe being a carrier is not right for that employee.

    • Which is exactly why my mail has been delivered incorrectly 3 times in the last month.

  • All I can say is that since Mike retired, my mail is completely screwed up on a regular basis – getting other peoples mail, them getting my mail. mail being left next to the mailbox. Heard the mail lady yacking on her cell phone 300 ft away up my driveway.
Complained multiple times, nothing will happen. Never had a real problem before.

  • I was an emergency hire by the postmaster in 1970. This was then a very rural part of FL and RR 01 was 110 miles and 216 boxes consisting mostly of farms, ranches and small businesses. I was 4th generation on the same ranch and everyone in a large radius was a friend or neighbor. What a great secure job and you were appreciated in the community. That all began to change as the old land owners or their heirs sold there property to developers. There are 7 RR out of that office, we and several other have managed to continue our ag life but the traffic is horrendous. The folks serving these RR today should get hazardous duty pay. Thankful I had a great job and was able to survive the mouse invasion and retire.
