Antwaine Demetris Scott, 31, was arrested early this morning and charged with attempted murder following investigation of a May 16 shooting at the Aloha Liquor Store at 930 E. University Avenue.
According to the arrest report, Scott had been hanging out at the Aloha Liquor Store at about 11:40 p.m. on May 15. The victim told investigators that he had heard Scott was “talking negatively about him on several occasions,” so when he saw Scott at the store, he approached him and asked him for a “fade” (according to the arrest report, this meant he wanted a fight).
The two exchanged words, and the victim reportedly punched Scott with his phone. They continued to argue, and Scott allegedly made several death threats toward the victim and said he was leaving and coming back to shoot him.
About 50 minutes later, Scott can reportedly be seen on surveillance video walking toward the store. According to the investigator’s account, surveillance video shows another person approaching Scott, and they spoke for a few minutes. At 12:24 a.m., the victim walked toward the dumpster in the parking lot and noticed Scott, at which point they exchanged words. The video then shows Scott pulling out a gun and shooting in the direction of the victim; the victim pulled out his gun and shot back; Scott shot again at the victim before fleeing the area when law enforcement arrived.
Scott has been charged with first-degree premeditated attempted murder, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and firing a weapon in public. He is being held on $1,010,000 bail.
