ASO investigates shooting at Westgate Manor Mobile Home Park

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alachua County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting on July 20 at Westgate Manor Mobile Home Park.

Late in the evening on Sunday, July 20, deputies responded to reports of shots fired at the mobile home park (5816 SW Archer Road) and found clear evidence of a shooting but no victims.

A short time later, an area hospital reported that a person had arrived with a gunshot wound related to the incident.

Detectives are actively investigating the case, interviewing witnesses, and following up on leads. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to please call ASO at 352-955-1818 or Crimestoppers at 352-372-STOP.

  • Probably Eastside against the Westside. Let’s see how this plays out. The way I see it is if it’s gang related, leave them be. Give them a little time and they’ll just take each other out if they ever learn to shoot straight. It’s embarrassing how often they miss their targets kill shot. Maybe they’ll get better and save us some tax dollars. Crime prevention 101.

  • We should set up a go fund me for some shooting lessons and range time so the can get it right

  • Two shootings in one day. Why aren’t people attacking each other with sticks and rocks, since it’s the people and not the guns? There are so many more sticks and rocks than guns. Maybe it’s just the thrill factor of stealing a gun from an unlocked vehicle as opposed to the mundanity of making do with sticks and rocks.
