ASO investigating shooting at Newberry motorcycle event

Staff report

NEWBERRY, Fla. – Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ASO) is investigating a shooting that occurred at about 2:50 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, at a motorcycle charity event in Newberry.

The Toy Soldier Poker Run began in Inglis and ended at 710 NW CR 235 in Newberry. A person who attended the event told Alachua Chronicle that a person was shot during a fight at the event.

According to an ASO spokesman, the victim was a 24-year-old Chiefland man, and his injuries appear to be non-life-threatening; the victim and witnesses have not been cooperative, and the case remains under investigation.

  • Looks like it’s not just one segment of society that would rather take care of things “in house.”

One can’t help but wonder if it’s revenge or forgiveness for the lack of cooperation? Guess we’ll find out.

  • A shooting in the heart of the future almost tax free conservative Utopia of Springs County. How does Springs County plan to eliminate shootings like this?

  • ITS GANG RELATED!! THOSE THUGS NEED TO BE ARRESTED AND HUNG!!! WE NEED THEM OFF THE STREETS!!!

    • You sure got a lot of info from that article. Guess I should read it again to see what I missed!

    • So being at a motorcycle event makes it GANG RELATED now? amazing how convoluted your mindset is. 90% of the attendance to a toy Soldier event are not even in Motorcycle CLUBS (not GANGS). Guess Harley Davidson needs to shut their doors since they are making GANG members now. We should also go ahead and shut down Christian Motorcycle Association, Enforcers (leo club) all the Veteran Clubs since they all wear colors and why we are at it lets make sure all Cops riding bikes on duty are immediately fired and arrested. What a tard you are. Guess you also think trump was a savior for the world too huh.
