Audit Committee to receive City of Gainesville current financial report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – At today’s meeting of the City of Gainesville Audit Committee, members will hear a presentation from external auditor Purvis, Gray and Co. following the firm’s audit of the fiscal year 2022 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. The financial report includes two findings from fiscal year 2018 (Bank Reconciliations; and Financial Close and Reporting) and no new findings. The report is due to the state by June 30.

When: 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 6

Where: City Hall Auditorium, 200 E. University Ave.

The Audit Committee comprises three members: Mayor Harvey Ward, Mayor Pro Tem Desmon Duncan-Walker, and appointed external subject-matter expert, Harold Monk.

The firm’s presentation also will include separate audit findings of Wild Spaces and Public Places funds, the Employees’ Pension Plan, the Consolidated Police Officers’ and Firefighters’ Retirement Plan, and the Retiree Health Insurance Plan. The Audit Committee is expected to review and approve the documents and recommend that the Gainesville City Commission accept the documents.

The meeting will be streamed on the City website and archived online. It also will be streamed on GNV TV through Roku and Amazon Fire TV devices.

  • Something tells me that they might have ‘accidentally’ spent more $$$ than they took in? Always great for your credit rating which determines how much it costs to borrow more $$$ in the future.

    Would love to know what the amount of profit GRU made last year was it at least the 15 million the city is taking

    They need to do an audit of their personal accounts.
