Bay of Pigs POWs and veterans back Marshall Rawson for State House

Press release from Marshall Rawson for Florida House District 10

HAMPTON, Fla. — Today, conservative candidate Marshall Rawson announced the endorsement of Bay of Pigs POWs and veterans Frank De Varona and Jose “Pepe” Tomeu.

“I’m proud to support Marshall Rawson,” said Frank De Varona. “He has been on the front lines of the fight against the destructive communist agenda and has also gained valuable military experience at the southern border with the Florida State Guard. I know Marshall will stand up for our future and will be a strong voice for veterans like me in our state legislature.”

“Marshall Rawson will have our backs in the Florida House,” said Pepe Tomeu of Alachua. “He’s a fighter who won’t back down from the tough battles that will arise in Tallahassee. Anyone can take a look at his conservative track record and see that he has what it takes to protect our constitutional liberties and defend the core values that make this nation great. I’m pleased to offer him my full endorsement in this race.”

Rawson announced last week that his campaign has the fundraising lead in the race for HD 10. He’s also received significant endorsements from various conservative state and local leaders, including former State Representative Mike Hill, former Chairman of the Bradford County Soil and Water Conservation District Tom Germano, Waldo Mayor Louie Davis, former State Representative Jay Fant, Lake City pastor Earl Green, Bradford County Commissioner Kenny Thompson, Union County Commissioner Mac Johns, and Newberry Mayor Tim Marden.

“I know just as well as anyone the threat of communist subversion in our own country,” said Marshall Rawson. “My 13-plus years of activism and advocacy proves that I’m battle-tested and battle ready to take the fight to Tallahassee to protect our district, state, and nation. I am incredibly grateful to have the unwavering support of these incredible and brave men who were willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice to stop the spread of communism, protect their homeland, and all of America. I can think of no living group of veterans who defended the North American homeland more directly than these fine men. They exemplify what it means to take the offensive and take the fight to the enemy, and I pray to do no less in Tallahassee. I look forward to continuing the fight against those who wish to destroy our individual freedoms and subvert our society.”

  • The Bay of Pigs fiasco was a CIA-backed failed attempt to overtake Cuba, a sovereign nation. This event is what JFK says opened his eyes. He subsequently thwarted Operation Northwoods the following year. Operation Northwoods was a planned false flag operation that would have essentially blamed the shooting down of a US commercial airline on Cuba in order to lead us into another world war.

    • Pepe is an amazing man with an even more amazing story.

Unfortunately, Mr. De Varona missed that Mr. Rawson could not have “gained valuable military experience” as the Florida State Guard is NOT a military force.

      • Pepe is a true gentleman and patriot. As the original owner of Alachua Pest Control, which was located in downtown Alachua on SR 241, he offered his very visible grounds for political signs during elections, regardless of party or candidate because he truly believed in democracy and freedom. As a very young man, he and his father took part in the rebellion against Castro in his native Cuba and were captured at the Bay of Pigs operation and spent time in Fidel’s prison.

I know him personally and through business and consider him a friend.

    • Good question. In HD 10 the two announced Republican candidates are both super conservative but in their only campaign issues are trying to “out conservative” each other. Both of them put the word “conservative” in front of their name in the first sentence of their press releases. This race is going to be sickening to watch. Do I vote for this guy or nepo baby?

Reminds me of a state race years ago. The hot topic that year was the death penalty, which both were 150% for, yet it was their only campaign issue. So they had to outdo each other.

“I’m for the death penalty by hanging.”
“I’m for the death penalty by hanging and then shooting. My opponent is weak on the death penalty because they only want to hang them.”
      Etc. etc. etc.

Cripes it was a sickening race to have to live thru.

  • I’ll have to consider voting for him instead of nepo baby IF he gets the endorsement of the John Birch Society.

But I am still troubled that the Trump tariffs on Liechtenstein are higher than the Trump tariffs on Cuba.
