‘Because we care more than them!’

BY JAKE FULLER

  • Every one of these clowns is reprehensible. I think the mayor *is* the enemy

  • While Jake pokes fun, let’s not lose site of the fact that we are talking about innocent homeless children and families in this discussion. A thousand (some estimates say many more) children and in many cases their single parent mothers.

    • Why are there single parent mothers?
Why don’t you take some home? Why are housing costs in Alachua County so high?
Be honest about it and don’t check with the bosses to find out how to answer the question.
Maybe you can provide housing in the empty office spaces of the County Administration building.

    • That is what this baffooning politicians want as a appearance but the closing of the St Francis house and the Disgrace marketplace tell a different story. These buildings will not house families. They will house adults that will turn a city or county owned building into a crime ridden flop house. And again I ask who foots the bill and the liability of county, city, or school property. The Federal homeless act signed by Reagan says surplus federal property and doesn’t mention locally owned property. The local taxpayer is on the hook for people who have no permanent residence or obligation to the area. Not to mention as much as Gainesville and Alachua County want to be the area sanctuary hub to the illegal trespassers. People do not fall for the lie that these incompetent career politician want you too. Remember the local 10 year end homeless plan that failed and cost the taxpayer. Mean while we are no closer to necessary road maintenance outside of colorful crosswalk do overs.

    • Enough of the bleeding heart liberal garbage. Parents should have responsibility for their own children. If they choose a life of drugs, crime, and irresponsibility so be it. I worked two and three jobs including weekends to raise my children. Stop trying to put their parental responsibilities on the rest of us.

    • That $40,000 the city just gave to the Cotton Club could have been used for the care and feeding of these kids. Contact your city council..

  • Nailed it Jake! That’s an image that’s going to take time to get out of my mind.
Looks like Harvey has a ‘firm’ grip on the situation and Lil’ Kenny is enjoying every minute with that pony show.

    Why isn’t that surprising?

  • One day Jake is going to come out with a cartoon that actually supports something – like helping innocent children get a roof over their heads – and the world will spin off its axis.

  • Where’s your parody of skyrocketing costs? The boondoggle Alligator Alcatraz or $8 gas? What a joke of a satirist you are.

    • Gas prices? We have not reached Joey Biden high of $5.01 average in June of 2022. Where were you complaining then? And then I didn’t hear nothing but excuses when the food prices were high under Biden. Wait a minute Joey was not really the president. Maybe we should being blaming Obama, Harris, Hunter, Jill, or Pelosi. If you dont like feeding tge gators at Alligator Alcatraz or $4.46 gas prices you can move back to New York. Im sure it’s cheaper and offers more freedoms then Florida.

  • Where are these thousand homeless children hiding at? We already have programs, housing assistance, SNAP, welfare and other support systems. When is enough enough? Is there a long term plan for individuals that would be housed in these facilities? Will the school kitchens be utilized to provide cradle to grave care for these thousand kids and their parent? Is there a term limit for residency? Who pays the light, water and sewer bill? Who buys the toilet paper?

  • Multi million dollar hotels for the homeless. In 6 months will be pimp ridden, drug infested dumps.

  • Yes, this whole issue is an opportunity for one side to flash it’s virtue and the other to flash it’s lack of the same. The cartoonist proves only his lack of imagination in the one-sidedness of his attack.

A pox on both your houses: I’m off to join the Indians.

On second thought, the heck the Indians too.
