Branford man arrested for firearm theft after report that he pointed a gun at another vehicle on I-75
Staff report
HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – Chase Michael Coleman, 20, of Branford, was arrested yesterday and charged with grand theft of a firearm after law enforcement received a report that he had pointed a gun at another vehicle on I-75.
At about 12:25 p.m. on July 8, High Springs Police Department units were notified that a Lexus that was reportedly involved in a road rage incident on I-75 was heading northbound on U.S. Hwy 441 into High Springs. The caller reportedly said that the driver of the Lexus had pointed a gun at their vehicle on northbound I-75. Both vehicles reportedly got off at Exit 399 and went north on U.S. Hwy 441.
The Lexus was pulled over near the intersection of U.S. Hwy 441 and High Springs Main Street, and Coleman and his passenger got out of the vehicle. A High Springs Police Department officer reported that Coleman spontaneously said he had a gun and marijuana in the vehicle.
The serial number of the gun matched a firearm that was stolen in Houston.
The officer reported that he had not made contact with the caller since the traffic stop, so no charges were filed for the road rage incident at the time of Coleman’s arrest.
Post Miranda, Coleman reportedly said he received the gun in a trade with his father.
Coleman has been charged with grand theft of a firearm. He has juvenile convictions in 2019 and 2020 but no adult criminal history. Judge Mitchell Bishop set bail at $5,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

I bet Daddy has already bailed him out
That would make his daddy an even bigger idiot than him if he indeed stole the firearm from his daddy.
They’re from branford, what do you expect?? Just like everywhere else around and in gaynessville!
Yall know nothing about this young man. Daddy ain’t bailing him out, give him a break
That beard alone is a felony
Beat me to it.
That really puts the “goat” in goatee….
Only $5,000 for pointing a stolen gun at someone?!? He will be out in time to do it again to someone else!!!
New judge….should be interesting….
Crazy you say this chase is my homie and only pointed the gun at them on i75 cause they tried running him off the road and chase felt threatened
Okay, “Dick”.
Chances are he was raised without a father, by a crazy mom instead. A sociologist will do a paper on him soon, preferably wallpaper.
The caller needs to step the f up!! This kid will think he’s untouchable n it will only be worse
This young man was acting in self defense from what ive gathered, “Victim” tried running Coleman off the road at over 90 mph, young man branched his firearm thinking the firearm was legal since his father gifted it to him, who would genuinely think twice about their father gifting them a gun, Magazine nor round was chambered. Mag was separate from the weapon. “Victim” attempts to run a guy off the road. the “suspect” acts out but automatically hes guilty huh ? Gather more evidence, other wise just shut your yapper. Hes also got zero criminal history other then a case when he was 13 from property damage due to a spray painting moral. And never been convicted until now for July 8ths case.
