Bread of the Mighty Food Bank Awarded Fenster Family Fund

Press release from Bread of the Mighty Food Bank

Gainesville, Fla. – Bread of the Mighty Food Bank has been awarded funding by the Fenster Family Fund at the Community Foundation. A total of $10,000 was awarded for the purchase of needed supplies.

“Bread of the Mighty Food Bank provides a vital service to our community’s most vulnerable population, and we are grateful to be able to help provide funding to organizations like Bread of the Mighty. We know these types of grants will help ease the burden on families in need in our community.,” said Barzella Papa, President and CEO, Community Foundation of North Central Florida.

The summer months are typically challenging for families who face the stress of hunger insecurity due to children being home more and not having school as a resource for food. However, this summer, the requests for food assistance have substantially increased, especially with the impact of inflation on so many of the local communities’ needs. Tami Gray, Co-CEO and Finance Director of Bread of the Mighty Food Bank stated, “We are grateful to the Fenster Family Fund for recognizing the critical issue of hunger in our community by awarding us this gift. It is projected that in 2022, 400,000 people will be served through the distribution of 8 million pounds of food, the equivalent of 6.7 million meals.”

  • Maybe our feckless city commissioners can do something more admirable than painting cross walks and give more to incredible organizations like this one!
