Bread of the Mighty Food Bank observes Hunger Action Month with Publix Serves Day in Gainesville
Press release from Feeding Northeast Florida
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In honor of Hunger Action Month, Bread of the Mighty Food Bank (BOTM), a branch of Feeding Northeast Florida, will partner with Publix and Deeper Purpose Community Church for a large-scale food distribution to support those experiencing hunger in the Gainesville area. This special event, part of the nationwide effort to raise awareness about food insecurity, will take place on Tuesday, September 17, at 10 a.m. at Deeper Purpose Community Church, located at 19930 N US Highway 441, High Springs.
The event is part of Publix Serves Day, an annual community program in which Publix associates volunteer to give back by supporting hunger and environmental initiatives. Publix District Manager Darren Steffy will lead up to 100 Publix associates as they volunteer at the event. Bread of the Mighty will provide essential food items, including meat, fresh produce, bakery goods, and dry goods, to local families experiencing hunger.
“We are excited to partner with Publix and Deeper Purpose Community Church to make a meaningful impact during Hunger Action Month,” said Patrick Dodds, Executive Director of Bread of the Mighty Food Bank. “Collaborations like this allow us to reach even more families facing hunger and ensure they have access to nutritious food.”
This distribution event is one of many ways Bread of the Mighty is honoring Hunger Action Month, a national campaign that raises awareness about the issue of hunger and inspires collective action to help those impacted by food insecurity. Throughout the month, supporters are encouraged to take action by volunteering, donating, and advocating to raise awareness and help combat hunger in our community.
