ALL MEETINGS OF THE CANVASSING BOARD ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND ARE HELD AT THE ALACHUA COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS OFFICE, 515 NORTH MAIN STREET, GAINESVILLE, FL 32601 CALL (352) 374-5252 FOR INFORMATION OR IF YOU REQUIRE SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS.
NOTICE: Any protest or challenge based on the belief that any ballot is illegal due to any defect apparent on the Voter s Certificate must be filed with the Canvassing Board before the ballot is removed from the mailing envelope and shall not be accepted after the ballot has been removed from the mailing envelope. If any person decides to appeal any decision made by the board, they will need a record of the proceedings, and they need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made.
BALLOT TABULATION: Results will not be tabulated for vote-by-mail ballots until after the polls are closed on Election Day.
Each candidate, political party official, political committee official, or an authorized designee thereof, shall be granted reasonable access upon request to review or inspect ballot materials before canvassing or tabulation. You must call the Elections Office at (352) 374-5252 and request access at least 24 hours prior to such access being granted. An attestation must be completed before access is granted. Authorized designees must provide a signed letter from the candidate or entity designating them as a representative. Meeting schedule
Wednesday, July 20, 2022 1:00 p.m. The Canvassing Board will meet for the purpose of an orientation meeting.
Wednesday, July 27, 2022 10:00 a.m. – Logic & Accuracy Testing – The Canvassing Board will test and seal tabulation equipment to be used in all phases of this election.
Monday, August 15, 2022 9:30 a.m. – The Canvassing Board will meet to review criteria used to accept vote-by-mail ballots, and to review and process vote-by-mail ballots that have been received by the Supervisor of Elections. Ballots will be available for inspection at 9:00 a.m.
Wednesday, August 17, 2022 9:30 a.m.(if needed) – The Canvassing Board will meet to review and process additional vote-by-mail ballots received by the Supervisor of Elections. Ballot duplication may occur. Ballots will be available for inspection at 9:00 a.m.
Thursday, August 18, 2022 9:30 a.m. – The Canvassing Board will meet to review and process additional vote-by-mail ballots received by the Supervisor of Elections. Ballot duplication may occur. Ballots will be available for inspection at 9:00 a.m.
Friday, August 19, 2022 9:30 a.m. (if needed) – The Canvassing Board will meet to review and process additional vote-by-mail ballots received by the Supervisor of Elections. Ballot duplication may occur. Ballots will be available for inspection at 9:00 a.m.
Monday, August 22, 2022 2:00 p.m. – The Canvassing Board will meet to review and process additional vote-by-mail ballots. Ballot duplication may occur. Ballots will be available for inspection at 1:30 p.m.
Tuesday, August 23, 2022 2:00 p.m. – The Canvassing Board will meet to review and process additional vote-by-mail ballots. Ballot duplication may occur. Ballots will be available for inspection at 1:30 p.m.
Tuesday, August 23, 2022 6:00 p.m. – The Canvassing Board will meet to review and process additional vote-by-mail ballots, to canvass the returns from early voting and the precincts after 7:00 p.m. Ballot duplication may occur. Ballots will be available for inspection at 5:30 p.m. Preliminary Results will be released.
Thursday, August 25, 2022 5:01 p.m. – The Canvassing Board will meet to canvass election returns and review bad signatures and provisional ballots along with any evidence provided. After 5:00 p.m. the Board will prepare and certify unofficial results.
Monday, August 29, 2022 4:00 p.m. – The Canvassing Board will meet to certify the official results and make audit selections for the post-election audit of the voting system. A review of the audit process will follow.
Tuesday, August 30, 2022 10:00 a.m. – The Canvassing Board will meet to conduct the post-election manual equipment audit.
Wednesday, August 31, 2022 10:00 a.m. (if needed) – The Canvassing Board will meet to conduct the post-election manual equipment audit.
If the Canvassing Board is required to meet at dates and times not listed, the time, date, location, and activity will be posted on the Supervisor of Elections website VoteAlachua.gov and announced at the conclusion of the preceding meeting.
