Caregiver arrested for slamming disabled man into sidewalk
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Javar Navi Hall, 23, was arrested last night and charged with abuse of a disabled adult after allegedly hitting and slamming a man into the ground.
Officers working the UF football game reportedly saw the incident on a traffic camera in the 1800 block of NW 8th Avenue and notified patrol officers. The responding Gainesville Police Department officer reported that the victim was a disabled adult, and Hall was his caretaker at a group home.
Post Miranda, Hall reportedly said the victim had become agitated and had to be physically restrained because he kept running into traffic; Hall denied striking him or slamming him into the sidewalk.
The officer reported that the traffic camera video showed Hall picking the victim up by the arms and slamming his body into the sidewalk; the video also reportedly showed Hall punching the victim in the torso, arms, and face.
The officer reported that the victim’s injuries were consistent with the video.
Hall has no local criminal convictions. Judge Sean Brewer set bail at $10,000.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Another rocket scientist who doesn’t think there are cameras everywhere. Admit to what you did and own it.
I wish they’d list what Group home he worked in, what company employed him. I have a disabled son. I’m trying to be very careful about the caregivers I have for him, but this is my big worry.
Unfortunately Kay, most “care” takers just don’t “care”.. Wishing you and your family the best. God bless
There’s a group home on 18th St further north in that neighborhood. May be with ARC but not sure.
ARC of Alachua
Somehow it seems self control is not a character trait of members of the culture of violence.
Not surprised!! I’ve seen a black caretaker that worked for ARC shouting racial slurs at a white patient at a plaza on 13th a few months back.. it’s a shame that they hire from the bottom of the barrel to “take care” of these handicapped people.
This judge Brewer sure is working on a reputation for being softer than a pillow. $10k bond for this guy- that’s it?!
Plus that Dillon lady from a previous article ruining her kid’s life and getting a cheap one- that was this judge too.
Sad to learn you don’t have what it takes and have to get arrested to find that out.
Dude did this during a football game and expected to get away with it?? Why is he being housed with female inmates? (check the shirt color…) Dude has a full-grown beard.
lol trans rights i guess
He identifies as female, prolly got a friend or relative of vic waiting on G pod to tune him up
If I recall correctly, a certain recently unseated school board member owned a group home just a couple of blocks from that location…
Update: Javar Hall is a female; therefore, she’s housed in the Alachua County jail with other female inmates. In addition, the group home belongs to ARC of Alachua County.
“Dude looks like a lady”🎶
