Caregiver charged with using client’s bank account for groceries and food deliveries
Staff report
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Marquisha S. Jackson, 22, was arrested yesterday and charged with exploitation of an elderly or disabled person after allegedly using a client’s bank account to pay for groceries and food deliveries.
In January 2025, the Department of Children and Families (DCF) reported to the Gainesville Police Department that Jackson had used her position of trust as a caregiver to use a client’s funds for personal purchases.
Jackson was employed as a caregiver to the victim, a disabled adult, and was reportedly familiar with the victim’s physical and mental limitations, as well as her finances.
DCF became aware of the situation when the victim learned that a transaction against her checking account was declined; inspection of the victim’s financial records reportedly revealed numerous charges for groceries and food delivery services and a charge of $500 that was attempted on a pre-approved credit card application.
Post Miranda, Jackson reportedly admitted using the victim’s checking account for personal expenses by entering the victim’s account into Apple Wallet on her personal phone. She also eventually admitted using the same account to try to establish a line of credit via a pre-approved credit card that matched the attempted transaction found on the victim’s account.
Jackson reportedly agreed that she was in a position of trust but said she felt like she had the victim’s permission and was often given gifts; she said she was planning on paying the victim back.
Jackson has no criminal history, and in her arrest warrant, Judge Denise Ferrero ordered her released on her own recognizance.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
It’s starts small with groceries and food deliveries and end up with butt lifts and lavish vacations
I bet she likes to mooch off of that sweet 401k her client has. Momma warbucks caught her in the act.
She’s more of a ‘caretaker’ than caregiver.
Here’s hoping the system takes her freedom away for 5 – 10.
And I bet you her social media has her all dolled up and smiley. There are lots of high maintenance, helpless rats out here.
Why do you say this under every post?
I also use my real name. The term Beaner Cleaner implies you’ll clean anything I give you for a few bucks. Flattered.
People who prey on the elderly and disabled are the absolute lowest.
This young idiot lady should be punished for doing & admitting what she did so this does not happen again as she knows that is was against the Law She should receive @ least 30 days in jail & a fine to pay back what she stole How dare you take a job to help a person in need who YOU are supposed to not only respect but also protect & have compassion for their needs as are unable to do for themselves She needs to go straight to jail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice runon sentence
You have to be pretty low to steal from an elderly, disabled, person.
