Chabad UF to host community gathering in solidarity with Israel on Oct. 22

Press release from Chabad UF
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — In the wake of the recent terror attack in Israel that saw over 1,500 innocent Jews brutally murdered, over 3,000 wounded, and 200 hostages taken, among them babies, women, and elderly, Chabad UF Jewish Student & Community Center is hosting a Stand with Israel Solidarity and Unity event on Sunday, October 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the Center, 2021 NW 5th Avenue.
This event will bring the community together, united in prayer, study, and charity, in the merit of safety, peace, and security in Israel. This will serve as a strong statement of solidarity with the people of Israel amid ongoing war. There is no charge for the event but RSVP is required at www.JewishGator.com/IsraelUnity
“The barbarism and sheer magnitude of the death, torture, and kidnapping of Jews, amongst them babies, women, and elderly is shocking,” says Rabbi Berl Goldman, director of the Chabad UF’s Center and organizer of the event. “We stand firm with our brothers and sisters in Israel and extend our heartfelt prayers and support to those mourning their loved ones and for those held in captivity.”
The Solidarity with Israel unity and prayer rally will feature prayers in memory of those who perished, for the healing of the injured, the safe return of the hostages, and the success of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) who are securing the safety of Israel and eradicating this barbaric evil.
During past conflicts in the Land of Israel, when things seemed bleak, and during times of danger for Israel and the Jewish people, the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, the most influential rabbi in modern history, made practical suggestions of mitzvahs, good deeds to elicit G-d’s protection.
We invite all members of the community to attend the unity and solidarity event, to stand with Israel and come together in prayer and action in support of Israel.
Additionally, the Israel Emergency Relief Fund has been established by Chabad UF to provide critical support to those affected in Israel. Donations will assist in the humanitarian and relief efforts being carried out throughout Israel. “We must remember that by illuminating our own corner of the world with acts of goodness and kindness, we can impact events on the other side of the world,” said Chanie Goldman co-director of Chabad UF.
Israel happened as a country due to European persecution, and the collapse of the Ottomans after WW I, then of course WW II.
Mixing politics with religion has its consequences still today. Both sides should wrest the scummy militant politicians from their religions.
