Chiefland man arrested for dragging juvenile out of car and punching him after parking lot incident at Hardee’s in Newberry
Staff report
NEWBERRY, Fla. – Brien Edward Wuenstel, 52, was arrested yesterday morning and charged with burglary with battery and child abuse after allegedly dragging a juvenile out of his car and punching him after an incident in the parking lot of the Hardee’s in Newberry.
At about 10:15 a.m., Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call about a physical fight at Hardee’s (24915 W. Newberry Road) in Newberry.
The caller reported that a man had jumped in the bed of a truck that was trying to leave the scene of a minor parking lot incident; the caller said the man, later identified as Wuenstel, was banging on the rear window of the truck, telling the driver to return to Hardee’s. After the driver returned to Hardee’s, he reportedly tried to leave again, and Wuenstel allegedly jumped in the truck bed again.
The responding deputy reported that when he arrived at 10:24 a.m., he saw Wuenstel opening the driver’s side door of the truck and pulling the juvenile driver out of the truck; Wuenstel then allegedly punched the juvenile in the face. The juvenile driver reportedly punched Wuenstel to defend himself, and the deputy reported that this went on for about 10 seconds before the two were separated.
Wuenstel completed pre-trial intervention for burglary and grand theft in 1991 and had adjudication of guilt withheld on a felony battery charge in 1998; his other charges have been driving without a valid license (1991-1994) and passing worthless checks (1995-1998).
Bail information is unavailable on weekends.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.Â
Redneck White Folk……
😜 At least it wasn’t in NE or SW Gainesville.
I am white and a redneck he is a f’ing A$$ hole that someone should have stepped up and feared for the kids safety and put a hole in him shame citizens of Alaucha County don’t have to guts to carry a firearm or defend themselves or others
Stupid idiot let a kid get the better of him of a parking lot dispute. He is another person who has a constant spinning moral compass. He has worked the criminal justice system over the years to benefit himself with the only remorse shown is when he gets caught.
His legal problems were more than 20 years ago. He is not a thug or career criminal. There is not enough info in this report to make any rational conclusion as to what really occurred.
Nothing on what provoked the guy to lose it, I see some probation and anger managment classes in his future.
Base on his history the kid may have not done anything wrong
52 years old and still no self control? He better watch out in the future as there are a lot more folks out there willing to stand their ground after July 1st.
Wonder what the kid did 🤔 also wonder what the physical stats were on this kid…somehow I think this “kid” was an adult-sized punk with a matching mouth…
Sounds like a FAFO moment to me.
Yes, because no one gives a crap about leaving the scene of an accident anymore, police just say oh well you have insurance or you should have had un insured motorist coverage as if everyone can afford that scam. ( scam: selling insurance in case you’re hit by someone without insurance, when it’s illegal to NOT have insurance….that IS what insurance is for silly) now the kid was leaving the scene of an accident-thankfully with no injuries except for his face maybe it will be a lesson learned for both parties?
It reads as though the youngster was involved in a “minor accident” and trying to leave the scene.
“Incident” was mentioned in article, not “accident.”
