Child pornography investigation leads to arrest of registered sexual offender for failure to register a Facebook account

HAWTHORNE, Fla. – Larry Wayne Robinson, 81, of Hawthorne, was arrested yesterday and charged with failing to report an internet account and 13 counts of providing false registration information after a child pornography investigation allegedly found that Robinson was using an unreported Facebook account.

An Alachua County Sheriff’s Office Detective was investigating a Cyber Tip about an individual uploading child pornography from a Facebook account, and the IP address, home address, email address, and phone number associated with the account were reportedly found to be associated with Robinson.

Robinson was convicted of sexual battery and two counts of lewd/lascivious conduct in 1993 out of Duval County and deemed a Sexual Offender. He is required to register with local law enforcement for the rest of his life and is required to report all internet accounts within 48 hours of using them.

The Cyber Tip indicated that Robinson created a Facebook account on September 8, 2020, and failed to report the account 13 different times.

Post Miranda, Robinson reportedly admitted that he had a Facebook account and showed a deputy his phone with an active Facebook account; he reportedly said he uses chat rooms with other men.

The arrest report notes that the investigation into the Cyber Tip about child pornography is ongoing, and charges are pending.

Robinson has three felony convictions for sexual offenses. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $420,000 with a condition that Robinson not have access to the internet.
