Attorney Jeff Childers, representing former school board candidate Khanh-Lien Banko and 3 other plaintiffs, has sent a letter to James Uthmeier, General Counsel for Governor Ron DeSantis, “urgently” requesting that the Governor declare a vacancy on the Alachua County School Board and proceed with appointing a replacement.

The letter includes excerpts from today’s ruling from Judge Donna Keim, which states that McGraw is “not entitled to hold the seat for that district” and that “the seat is considered vacant” by Florida statutes and by school board policy.

Childers points out that Florida Statutes provide that “since Ms. McGraw failed to maintain her district residence, then the governor shall declare the vacancy.” Further the statutes says the vacancy “shall be filled by appointment by the Governor.”

The letter requests a response today because the school board meets at 6 p.m. this evening.

  • Let’s see how slowly these wheels of justice turn….

If it does happen, hopefully the chair will receive the call.

  • Glad to see some people are not entitled as they think they are…
