Children’s Trust of Alachua County Hires Two Contract Managers

Press release from Children’s Trust of Alachua County

The Children’s Trust of Alachua County has recently hired Deon Carruthers and Belita James, MSW, as Contract Managers.

“I am excited to have Mr. Carruthers and Ms. James join our team,” said Colin Murphy, Executive Director of the Children’s Trust of Alachua County. “Their role as contract managers is essential to ensuring that services are provided to children as intended and that taxpayers’ money is being carefully spent.”

Both Carruthers and James bring extensive experience in human services. Carruthers performed a similar role as a Community Development Specialist with the City of Madison, Wisconsin. He has also held positions where he was a liaison with community groups for the Madison Metropolitan School District. Carruthers is a graduate of Ashford University in San Diego, CA.

James comes from the University of Florida, Hepatology-Research, where she was a Multi-Center Data Abstractor/Research Coordinator. James’ understanding of program deliverables and program reporting will be useful in being successful in the contract manager position. She earned a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, FL.

Carruthers and James immediately started working with over 20 providers in the Summer Fun initiative (www.childrenstrustofalachuacounty.us/programs-directory), collaborating with providers to help them meet the standards set forth by the Trust.

The Children’s Trust of Alachua County provides children’s services year-round throughout Alachua County, so that children are healthy, educated, supported, and safe.

  • Two managers? Really? Too many chiefs…at least from past history in this county – probably overpaid although don’t know salaries as of this writing. Hey but who’s complaining, our tax dollars are paying for this.

Let’s see how well that equitable pay goes.
