City Observes Memorial Day May 25
May 21, 2020
Press release from City of Gainesville
In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, city offices (which are now working remotely) will be closed Monday, May 25.
The Regional Transit System (RTS) will provide its holiday service, which runs between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., to routes 1, 2, 5, 8, 10, 13, 15, 16, 20, 26, 35, 43, 75 and 711. Please visit the RTS website and schedule pages for more information.
Residential curbside collection for garbage, recycling and yard trash will not be picked up on the holiday, and will delayed by one day for the rest of the week.
But are there any real observances of Memorial Day this year? At the cemetery on Hawthorne Road? In any of the small towns at their city halls?
Byerly won’t be doing anything in observance of the Memorial Day that pays respect to the sacrifices veterans have given for the rights he continues to squash. He looks into space during the invocation during meetings. He’s actually left the screen during the Pledge of Allegiance. Wonder what flag he’s secreting paying homage to?
