City of Gainesville hosts third workshop on Eighth & Waldo Revitalization Project

Press release from the City of Gainesville
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The City of Gainesville invites all neighbors to a community workshop about the future of the roadways near Citizens Field and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation Complex.
This is the City’s third workshop about the revitalization project, and neighbors are encouraged to share their thoughts, including ideas for the park facilities and adjacent roadways (Waldo Road, NE 8th Ave., and NE 15th St.).
When: 5:30-7 p.m., Thurs., May 29
Where: Santa Fe College Blount Center, 530 W. University Ave.
The project encompasses the 34 acres owned by the City that include the Martin Luther King, Jr. Multipurpose Center, Citizens Field, and the Citizens Multipurpose Fields. Staff will gather feedback from the community to help shape the vision for the northeast park complex and Citizens Field.
(The workshop location was moved to the SFC Blount Center due to floor repairs at the MLK Center and limited parking at the Clarence R. Kelly Community Center.)
Show us the money.
The city cannot afford an ambitious revitalization project. The taxpayers are not cash cows.
May as well screw up as many of Gainesville’s streets as possible. Make the roads bike lanes during the initial construction phase instead of changing them later.
Not having a glovebox or trunk will make it easier for LEOs to monitor what some are carrying. Definitely cuts down on how many handicap parking spots will be needed.
Adding to the city debt! Raising taxes! More money in pocket for Gainesville elite!! Hooray!!!
They pretend to “listen” then do what they want, usually the opposite of what people suggest. Same thing with Tom Petty park and all the retarded pickleball courts, cutting down historic trees that are an integral part of the park, etc.
The ACSD needs a new stadium. Are they paying or the city?
The city needs the chestnut football arena
