City of Gainesville observes Memorial Day on May 25

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, City offices will be closed on Monday, May 25.
Residential curbside collection for garbage, recycling, and yard waste will not be picked up on the holiday and will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.
No RTS bus service is scheduled for the holiday. Please plan accordingly.
So Mayor Ward can issue a flowery statement about Florida Emancipation Day, but for Memorial Day the city just gives a perfunctory note about trash pickup and bus service? Disrespectful.
Mayor Ward typically sends out these statements on the morning of the holiday. He has sent out Memorial Day messages in the past, so it is likely he will send one out on Monday.
