City of Gainesville to hold neighborhood workshop for Boulware Springs Nature Park on Oct. 15

Press release from City of Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The City of Gainesville’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department and the Wild Spaces & Public Places Department invite you to attend a neighborhood workshop to discuss future improvements at Boulware Springs Nature Park.

What: Boulware Springs Improvements Neighborhood Workshop

When: Tuesday, Oct. 15, 6-7 p.m.

Where: 3300 SE 15th St. (Under the pavilion next to the trailhead)

Proposed upgrades include renovation of the historic water works building, the addition of a restroom building at the trailhead, additional parking, a connecting drive from the trailhead to the water works building, landscaping, and stormwater treatment. Improvements would better integrate the park’s entry and address stormwater and erosion issues. The renovated building would serve as a nature education facility and rental venue for special events and meetings. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2025 and last one year. The trailhead will remain open during construction.

Please note, this event is outdoors, so be sure to dress accordingly.

  • This facility needs to be “The” showcase of Gainesville’s City Managers best foot forward. It’s already a fabulous park, even considering Harvey Ward’s neglect to date, please don’t mess this up. Show us what “imagine Gainesville” can be and listen to what the people will tell you and keep it simple.

  • Keep an eye on your car. mine got broken into with the window smashed in the parking lot. Now I know why I saw a bunch of piles of broken glass in that parking lot.

    • That’s a long term issue Lou. Hopefully a redesign will help make it safer. I always park in the parking lot on the highway. It’s much more exposed and I have never seen broken glass there like you do at the Trailhead parking lot.
