City of Gainesville webinar to demonstrate use of online redistricting mapping tool

Press release from City of Gainesville
The City of Gainesville will host a webinar to show neighbors how to make use of free district-building software so they can actively participate in the upcoming redistricting process.
The City’s charter mandates adjustments to the boundary lines of the city’s four districts within two years of the completion of a U.S. Census.
When:Â 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25
Neighbors can access the webinar via this Zoom link and Webinar ID: 890 8756 6951. Phone/Audio: 1-929-205-6099
Questions will be fielded via Zoom chat and by phone. The webinar also will be streamed live on the City’s website.
Staff from the Office of the City Attorney will join Michael McDonald, Ph.D., creator of the DistrictBuilder mapping tool (and a University of Florida professor), to provide an overview of the 2020 census data, the guiding principles of fair districting, and the steps to access and utilize the mapping tool.
Participants will learn how to create and submit district maps for consideration next spring by the Gainesville City Commission. The commission is expected to review the maps and approve new district boundaries next May. Public engagement sessions will be scheduled early next year.
Yeah right! Like those extreme liberalist will take any citizen input but will instead use their own extreme nutty logic to carve up any logical conservative niches that believe people should work for a living. Of course, since they screw up everything they do they’ll asx it up good.
