Congresswoman Kat Cammack appointed to new House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Press release from Congresswoman Kat Cammack

WASHINGTON, D.C. — This week, Congresswoman Kat Cammack (FL-03) was appointed to the new House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence. Speaker Mike Johnson and Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries announced the establishment of a bipartisan Task Force on Artificial Intelligence (AI) to explore how Congress can ensure America continues to lead the world in AI innovation while considering guardrails that may be appropriate to safeguard the nation against current and emerging threats.

Speaker Johnson and Leader Jeffries have each appointed twelve members to the Task Force that represent key committees of jurisdiction and will be jointly led by Chair Jay Obernolte (CA-23) and Co-Chair Ted Lieu (CA-36). The Task Force will seek to produce a comprehensive report that will include guiding principles, forward-looking recommendations, and bipartisan policy proposals developed in consultation with committees of jurisdiction.

“I’m excited to join this new task force on AI,” said Congresswoman Cammack. “Artificial intelligence is rapidly shaping and changing our society daily, and it’s important Congress knows the capabilities and dangers of this emerging technology. I hope to approach this issue with common sense to protect constitutional freedoms and national security without stifling innovation.”

“Because advancements in artificial intelligence have the potential to rapidly transform our economy and our society, it is important for Congress to work in a bipartisan manner to understand and plan for both the promises and the complexities of this transformative technology,” said Speaker Mike Johnson. “I am happy to announce with Leader Jeffries this new Bipartisan Task Force on Artificial Intelligence to ensure America continues leading in this strategic arena.

“Led by Rep. Jay Obernolte (R-Ca.) and Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Ca.), the Task Force will bring together a bipartisan group of Members who have AI expertise and represent the relevant committees of jurisdiction. As we look to the future, Congress must continue to encourage innovation and maintain our country’s competitive edge, protect our national security, and carefully consider what guardrails may be needed to ensure the development of safe and trustworthy technology,” he said.

The members of the new task force include Reps. Obernolte, Issa, Hill, Cloud, Cline, Franklin, Steel, Burlison, Lee (FL), McCormick, Lieu, Eshoo, Clarke, Foster, Bonamici, Bera, Beyer, Ocasio-Cortez, Stevens (MI), Jacobs, Foushee, and Pettersen.

  • Nothing is intelligent about Kit Kat Cammack.. she’s in a district that’s super Safe so she can say and do asinine things to stay relevant.. literally takes credit for bills she didn’t even vote 4..

  • Artificial Intelligence evaluated by Congress? Is there any real intelligence in Congress to evaluate anything other than how to get re-elected? Billions voted for Ukraine to protect their border. Billions for Israel to protect their border. Billions for Taiwan to protect their borders. How much for protection of our southern border to keep out all the illegal invaders? If Ms. Kat can’t demonstrate genuine activism to protect our own borders than perhaps she is just feeding at the taxpayer trough like all the other congressional blood suckers who are dominated by donor money but don’t give a crap about the Americans they claim to represent.
