Construction on CR 235 roundabout scheduled to begin on June 1

Press release from Alachua County
NEWBERRY, Fla. – Alachua County Public Works and the City of Newberry will begin construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of County Road 235 and Newberry Lane on Monday, June 1, 2026.
To allow crews to safely complete the work, the intersection and surrounding roadway will be closed to through traffic for the duration of construction, beginning June 1. The anticipated completion date is Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026, with the roadway scheduled to reopen on Aug. 10.
Clearly marked detour routes will be in place throughout the closure, and advance-warning message signs will be posted to help safely guide motorists around the construction area. Drivers are encouraged to plan for additional travel time and use caution when traveling near the work zone.
The designated detour routes are:
Option A: US 27/41 (State Road 45) to Northwest 78th Avenue
Option B: Northwest 202nd Street to Northwest 46th Avenue
“This project is designed to improve traffic safety, enhance traffic flow, and reduce the severity of crashes at the intersection,” said Alachua County Construction Inspections Superintendent Aaron Burke. “Public Works appreciates the community’s patience as crews work to enhance safety and improve traffic flow in the Newberry area.”
