Convenience store employee arrested for stealing over $1,000 in Lotto scratch-off tickets

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jamie Dionne White, 34, was arrested early this morning and charged with grand theft after allegedly stealing over $1,000 in Lotto scratch-off tickets from the convenience store where she worked.

An Alachua County Sheriff Field Service Technician responded to the Circle K at 7501 W. Newberry Road on August 8, where the manager reportedly said he had surveillance footage showing two incidents in which White had torn off Lotto scratch-off tickets and placed them in her backpack without paying for them.

On August 2, surveillance video reportedly shows White working behind the register; she can be seen bending down and straightening the Lotto scratch-off tickets and then tearing off random tickets and placing them on top of the scratch-off shelf. About an hour later, she allegedly took the tickets from the shelf and placed them in her backpack, then finished her shift and left without paying for them. The tickets were reportedly worth $389.

On August 5, surveillance video reportedly shows White tearing off scratch-off tickets and placing them in her backpack; she allegedly finished her shift and left without paying for the tickets, which were worth $674.

An Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy made contact with White at the store on August 8, and post Miranda, she reportedly confessed to stealing the lottery tickets. White has no criminal history, and Judge Kristine Van Vorst ordered her released on her own recognizance.
