Convicted felon arrested for hitting victim in the head with a gun

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Clark Adam Hobbs, 30, was arrested early this morning for allegedly hitting another man in the head with a firearm; he was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

At about 3 a.m. on May 19, Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home near the 1500 block of SE 27th Street and found the victim standing in the middle of the road in front of the home, next to a firearm on the ground.

The victim and a witness reportedly said they were talking with Hobbs inside the residence when Hobbs became upset and went outside to his camper, which was parked in the driveway; the victim and witness both said Hobbs pointed a purple laser from a firearm at the victim.

The victim said he grabbed a baseball bat to defend himself, and Hobbs allegedly hit the victim in the forehead with the firearm and then tossed it into a pile of items outside the residence.

The witness reportedly grabbed Hobbs and held him down to keep him from regaining possession of the firearm.

The deputy reported that the victim had blood on his forehead from being hit with the firearm.

Deputies reportedly found a firearm with a purple laser affixed.

Post Miranda, Hobbs reportedly said he was trying to defend himself from being attacked and could not say how the victim had gotten injured. He denied possessing or using the firearm, but he admitted to finding and acquiring it “after magnet fishing.”

Hobbs has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He has one local felony (non-violent) and one local misdemeanor (violent), along with an out-of-state criminal history between 2012 and 2021 that includes a felony conviction out of Rochester, New York. Bail will be set tomorrow.

Another ‘invited’ guest of our city and county commissioners due to their stupidity by paying our tax money to support this $hit.

  • Another FELON with a gun. Lock him up, he obviously cannot behave in a civilized society. He’s fortunate that no one else was carrying because as soon as he brandished that weapon.. pew pew….no court case needed. less tax money spent on court, jail, release, or police.
