County announces that Archer Road traffic signal issue is resolved

Press release from Alachua County

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Concerning the malfunctioning traffic signal at the corner of Archer Road and SW 91st Street, Alachua County Public Works staff worked with the City of Gainesville and the contractor working for the private developer. All known issues with the signal at Archer Road and SW 91st Street have been corrected. The flow of traffic is greatly improved.

Public Works staff will continue to monitor the traffic signal at this intersection

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) approved the timing for the new traffic light cycles. Any future adjustments to these traffic light cycles will require FDOT approval.

  • Nice to see the city can get one traffic light to work.

Unfortunately there’s many more in the city that Poe promised to synchronize during his stint as an elected official. Both were complete failures.

  • FYI the light is not fixed. It still provides a turn signal when no cars are present. It is better but not fixed. It’s “Alachua county” fixed…….I’m sure it’ll get worse once the county takes back control with their “traffic calming” measures. 👎👎👎

  • Why the hell did they not send a traffic officer to direct traffic to expedite the flow of traffic until it was fixed? 45 minutes to get from Archer to 34th street is ridiculous.

  • News Flash. Breaking News. Traffic Light fixed by the failed Alachua County Commissioners .Maybe ? What an absolutely useless bunch.

  • Archer Road is a disaster. There are way too many vehicles on this road and the constant building of newer homes West of 75th has made it nearly impossible to make a turn on to Archer at rush hour.
