County’s vegetative debris drop-off site closing

Press release from Alachua County

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – The two residential drop-off sites for vegetative debris from Hurricane Helene will close at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 14, 2024. For any residents wishing to use these sites before they are closed, please remember to bring proof of residence, such as a utility bill and a driver’s license with a matching address. The residential drop-off sites are located at:

  • NW Landfill – 15530 NW 173rd St., Alachua
  • SW Landfill – State Road 24, 2.2 miles southwest of US 27, Archer (just past Archer Rural Collection Center site)
  • I’d be curious to know the number of people who loaded up their storm debris in their own vehicles and took it to these “drop-off sites.” I bet it’s very small. The whole idea sounds ridiculous.
