Court orders arrest of Clinton Portis over unpaid child support

A court has ordered the arrest of former NFL running back Clinton Portis, whose current address is in Gainesville, over unpaid child support. According to court documents, he has failed to make a single payment of court-ordered child support of $1,937.00 monthly to the mother of a child born in March of 2015. The mother’s address is in Michigan.

The first request for enforcement was filed in October of 2019, and at that point, Portis already owed $103,775.00. After Portis failed to appear at hearings, an Order to Appear and Show Cause was issued on July 20, 2021, ordering Portis to appear before the court on August 6 or be arrested. When he didn’t appear on August 6, he was found in civil contempt of the court. That order found that Portis owes retroactive child support of $147,962.49 plus interest. It also found that he has “the means and ability to pay, has guaranteed income, and has substantial retirement assets.”

Following that order, a Writ of Bodily Attachment was issued on August 13, ordering that Portis be arrested. He can purge the contempt order and be immediately released from custody by paying $148,032.49, which includes the payment of the Sheriff’s fee.

Portis made $43 million in the NFL but declared bankruptcy in 2015.

  • Unfortunately, he was ripped off by his money people as are so many young NFL players. And he declared bankrupty indicating the man has no money. Sad day in Mayberry RFD when this man is to be arrested and we have violent mopes running the streets and killing others. I think the judicial system is ass backwards and in need or an enima. Portis in not a violent criminal!

    • Whether he was ripped off or not is no excuse for not paying for his child’s support.

      Anyone can file bankruptcy. Most people file it to protect their assets, see O.J. Simpson, Donald Trump are but a few. By celebrity/sports figures in society, $1900 is a bargain. He should have paid.

      If you can’t pay for the litter, don’t sleep with the sitter. (Had a nice ring to it)😂

    • By healthcare fraud is it about insurance fraud, Medicare and Medicaid? If so then he deserves the baby karma, that’s a healthcare matter too.

  • The Constitution says that you can’t go to jail for a civil debt and these devils in power are committing TREASON on a daily basis. If I knew how to contact Mr. Portis I would help him and child support is FRAUD!!!!!

    • What is your info? I agree with you child support is definitely Fraud especially when you have individuals living off of that alone.
