Cox and UF Celebrate Champions of Character in Alachua County

Press release from Cox Communications

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Cox Communications partnered with the University of Florida’s Champions of Character program to recognize over 110 Alachua County students at the Gators women’s basketball game Sunday.

The Champions of Character program provides local public schools with a way to reward elementary school students who have excelled in good behavior, sportsmanship, and work ethic. The students and their teachers took center court at halftime, where they received T-shirts and swag bags.

Cox Market Vice President Aimee Pfannenstiel said supporting the Champions of Character program gives Cox the opportunity to support two of Gainesville’s greatest institutions: UF and Alachua County Public Schools.

“Our founder, James M. Cox, was an educator before he started his career in media,” Pfannenstiel said. “Supporting public education remained a priority for him throughout his life, and his legacy continues to guide our outreach in all the communities we serve.”

Cox is the official Internet and video provider of the Florida Gators, and an official sponsor of the UF’s women’s athletics program for 15 years.
