CR 235 at Newberry Lane traffic pattern change – be prepared to stop

Press release from Alachua County

NEWBERRY, Fla. – On Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, Alachua County Public Works, in cooperation with the City of Newberry, will be converting the intersection of County Road 235 and Newberry Lane to an All-Way-Stop controlled intersection.

Currently, traffic traveling along CR 235 does so under a free flow condition, meaning that traffic on CR 235 is not required to stop, while traffic on Newberry Lane is.

Beginning on Monday, Feb. 23, drivers at this intersection should be prepared to stop.

  • It will cut down on accidents, MAYBE! To Me this is No Different than
SW 8th Avenue & SW 91street in Gainesville Fl. That is also a 4-Way stop, and they still have accidents weekly!
    😢🙄😳

    • Don’t know about ROW costs, but a round about at 8th and 91st, to match the one at 24th, would help, especially at rush hours.
