Dance Alive National Ballet presents summer dance camp for children with special needs

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – DANB, in collaboration with Children’s Trust of Alachua County and the City of Gainesville, will present a weeklong “camp” for ESE children with physical and developmental special needs (ambulatory and non-ambulatory). The camp will run July 7-11 at Oak View Park from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily. The cost for the program is $350, with scholarships available to Alachua County residents meeting Children’s Trust requirements.

Training of staff will be provided prior to the beginning of “camp” by Senior Staff to ensure safety, assistive techniques for maximum participation by participants, and curriculum development.

Children’s Trust stated, “The Children’s Trust of Alachua County allocated $2,006,229 to fund 23 summer camps throughout the county. These summer camps offer a wide range of programming, including literacy, STEM, sports, arts, and more. We are especially proud to fund three new camps tailored to children with special needs.”

Kim Tuttle, Artistic Director of DANB, said, “We are delighted to offer this program to residents of Alachua County and appreciate the assistance and support of Children’s Trust of Alachua County and the City of Gainesville in helping to bring this needed program to our community.”
