Dance Alive National Ballet to hold auditions on August 24

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Dance Alive National Ballet (DANB) will hold auditions for the company, for Nutcracker, and for the student group Next Generation on Saturday, August 24, at Pofahl Studios (1325 NW 2nd Street).

DANB Artistic Director Kim Tuttle will be casting for selected roles in DANB’s 2024-2025 productions as well as Nutcracker. Directors of the student group, NEXT GENERATION, will select members for the 2024-2025 company.  DANB welcomes dancers from surrounding counties, studios, and gyms. Those auditioning should arrive 30 minutes before the audition in order to complete paperwork and receive their number. 

• For girls: black leotard, pink tights, and appropriate shoes with hair up. 
• For boys: white t-shirt, black tights, shorts or bicycle pants and appropriate shoes. 
• For acrobats:  appropriate clothing. 

AUDITION TIMES AND ROLES

Ballet experience required, but no pointe for girls. Auditions for Soldiers, Party Children, Franz’ friends, Mice, Next Generation:

• Age 7-8: 12:30-1:15
• Age 9-10: 1:30-2:15
• Age 11-13: 2:15-3:15

Ballet experience required and pointe for roles on pointe. Auditions for Party Children, Franz’ friends, Clara’s friends, Young Adults, Mice, Angels, Snowflakes, Act II corps, DANB, and Next Generation: 

• Age 11-14 – 3:30-4:15 (2nd year pointe as of August 2024)
• Age 12-17 – 4:30-5:15 (3rd year pointe as of August 2024)

Tumblers. Must be able to do back handsprings, splits, headstands, front and back walkovers and aerial tricks:

• Age 7-18: 5:30-6:00

NOTE:  Some dancers will be selected for Nutcracker tour which begins November 23rd in Alachua before heading to South Carolina, Village, Belle Glade, and Ocala, FL before returning to Alachua County for performances beginning December 18 and running through the 22nd.
