DCF issues statement on allegation of abuse at group home
BY JENNIFER CABRERA
The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) has issued a statement regarding the arrest of Wanda Thomas, who was working for both DCF and a group home for the disabled when she was accused of hitting multiple residents of the group home with a belt.
Laura Walthall of DCF send the following statement: “The employment of Wanda Thomas has been terminated with the Department of Children and Families. The Department is disturbed by these allegations and will investigate this case thoroughly. Abuse of any elderly or disabled individuals will not be tolerated, and DCF will work with law enforcement on this investigation.”
The group home is one of several owned by School Board Candidate Diyonne McGraw. McGraw has not responded to our request for a comment.
Group homes need someone to run them who is level-headed and focused on the job. She’s got a lot going on between the school board, suing the governor, trying to get on TV game shows like The Price is Right, and looking after her son and his legal problems. I hope the families of the two residents sue the crap out of her.
Actually, that was the other Mc- on the school board who was seen at The Price is Right…. McNealy.
