Deputies arrest two juveniles for vehicle burglaries in the Jonesville area
Staff report
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – At 3:30 a.m. this morning, Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a car burglary in progress in the Belmont neighborhood off CR 241.
When deputies arrived, they saw two suspects attempting to break into a car; both suspects reportedly ran when they saw the deputies. One suspect was reportedly detained after discarding a firearm during a foot chase; the second suspect ran to a previously-stolen vehicle that the two suspects had allegedly driven to the neighborhood.
After a short pursuit, the suspect vehicle made a U-turn back toward the deputy’s car and was hit by the patrol car. The suspect was later apprehended while walking down the road.
The suspects are reportedly brothers and are 16 and 17 years old. The 17-year-old was previously charged with seven felonies and two misdemeanors, including burglary, grand theft of a firearm, resisting an officer, criminal mischief, and fleeing. The 16-year-old is a suspect in multiple ongoing investigations.
Dash cam video of the crash is included in this video released by Sheriff Emery Gainey.
17 and seven felonies already!?
There’s one who has no business procreating.
Parents are part of the issue if they’re juvenile kids are out at 3:30 A.M. Sounds like these two are well on their way to being some of Gainesville’s super rocket scientists.
Sounds like they are in need of some good old fashioned corporal punishment.
Jonesville, jeez, 16 & 17 multiple felonies and a gun charge. I think it might be time for real jail. If you do the crime you should be prepared to to the real time and not in some kiddies jail!!!
They’re beginning their lifetime of crime. In and out of jail while the honest taxpayers will be supporting them. Give them both a stiff sentence. Maybe their parents should be held responsible too.
Parents should be surtaxed to recoup costs of raising deviant spawn.
No way there’s a dad in the picture.
Looks like the older Brother might be a bad influence on the younger one, just sayin
Unfortunately, there’s many in this country who feel these “easily” influenced juveniles should be allowed to vote.
The degradation of society continues.
Charge them as Adults & Charge the Parents too, Why were they out running the Streets at that time of the night!?
No one said if any Officers were injured in the accident or the shooting? Just praying that the Officers are ok.
Imagine moving all the way to the west side of town to avoid east side problems and still have to deal with this bs. Funny that Sheriff Gainey says, “remember, car thefts are preventable!” Yes they are. If gangsville would lock up all these thugs, it would prevent a whole bunch of them!
Also, if they are going to withhold the names of juveniles, they should release the parents’ name instead.
