Deputies respond to weekend shooting in Gainesville and request the public’s help

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – During the early morning hours of Sunday, February 1, 2026, deputies responded to a residence in the 8400 block of NE 77th Lane in Gainesville regarding a person shot.

Law enforcement arrived on scene within five minutes. Once at the location, they found an adult male with a gunshot wound. Deputies rendered aid before EMS arrived and transported him to an area hospital for treatment. The male is expected to survive.

Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators located evidence on scene of a shooting and are continuing to investigate the incident.
