ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – With Gainesville Police Department making domestic violence a priority, Alachua Chronicle will provide basic descriptions of domestic violence incidents as resources permit. The point is to familiarize our readers with the scope and scale of domestic violence in Alachua County, not to highlight the offenders. Names and booking photos of all of the offenders can be found in the daily Jail Booking Log.

Domestic violence arrests on June 12, 2026

• A man punched his girlfriend multiple times in the face after an argument at Bella Vista Village and then held her down while she attempted to pull away from him; the victim also said the man punched her in the head and stomach and choked her until she could not breathe. The victim had scratches and bruises on her arms. The man had a scratch on his arm, and he told the officer that the victim tried to jump on him, and she received her injuries when he pushed her off of him. 
• The 73-year-old victim told an ASO deputy that she and her husband had gotten into an argument that escalated when her husband grabbed her by the hair, forced her face-down onto a bed, and held her there while he repeatedly punched her in the back of her head; she said she hit her husband with a broom until he released her. Her husband told the deputy that his wife hit him with a broom, so he restrained her by holding her face-down on the bed until she calmed down. The deputy reported that the victim had a large knot on the back of her head that was not explained by the husband’s account of the incident, and the husband was charged with battery on a victim over 65.
• A male victim told a GPD officer that a man came to his house, believing his girlfriend was cheating on him, and hit him in the head with a baseball bat; he also said the man hit his girlfriend, but the man’s girlfriend said he didn’t put his hands on her. The man was charged with domestic battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and was also arrested on a warrant for domestic battery by strangulation.
• The victim told an ASO deputy that an argument with her boyfriend turned physical when he grabbed her throat; she said she woke up on the ground and realized that she had lost consciousness when he choked her. She said he lightly tried to hit her, but she blocked it, and he left. Her boyfriend told the deputy that she slapped him and he shoved her, but any marks from choking were from sex earlier in the day. The victim had obvious fresh bruising on her neck and fingernail marks, consistent with her allegation that she was choked. Her boyfriend was charged with domestic battery by strangulation.
• The victim told a GPD officer that during an argument at their apartment, an elderly woman pulled a knife from the knife block in the kitchen and raised it toward him in the living room, putting him in fear for his life. The woman reportedly said she was tired of being disrespected in her home. The elderly woman was charged with domestic aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
