ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – With Gainesville Police Department making domestic violence a priority, Alachua Chronicle will provide basic descriptions of domestic violence incidents as resources permit. The point is to familiarize our readers with the scope and scale of domestic violence in Alachua County, not to highlight the offenders. Names and booking photos of all of the offenders can be found in the daily Jail Booking Log.

Domestic violence arrests on June 17, 2026

• At about 9 p.m. on June 16, a Gainesville woman was walking with her 10-month-old child in a stroller when she stumbled due to allegedly being intoxicated, causing the stroller to tip; the child suffered a head injury and was transported to a hospital. The woman was charged with child neglect without great bodily harm.
• At about 6:40 p.m. on June 16, a Gainesville woman allegedly threw an object at her boyfriend during an argument, causing his lip to bleed. She said the object was just a children’s toy and denied that it caused any injury. She was charged with domestic battery.

Domestic violence arrests on June 18, 2026

• At about 9:32 p.m. on June 17, an Alachua man allegedly threatened his girlfriend at knifepoint before leaving in his vehicle. The victim said she and the man had argued, and he grabbed a large chef’s knife and pushed her up against the wall, holding the knife at her stomach; then he said “Jinx” and said he didn’t want to hurt her, he wanted to hurt himself, and he left. He was located near Turkey Creek and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, and domestic battery.
• A Newberry man allegedly grabbed his girlfriend by the forearm before taking items from her hand and throwing the items across the room. The man and the victim were reportedly arguing about the man’s relationship with his ex-girlfriend, and the incident was reportedly captured on a camera. The man was charged with domestic battery with a prior conviction for battery.
• A Gainesville man was arrested for a May 25 incident in which he allegedly choked his sister after her friend refused to show him some money. The victim had a bright purple bruise on her neck. The man was charged with domestic battery by strangulation.
• On June 18, a Gainesville woman allegedly hit her girlfriend multiple times throughout the day and then threw a soda on her. When the victim went to change her clothes, the woman allegedly pushed her onto a bed and started punching her; the victim left and knocked on several doors to get help. The victim had a contusion on her forehead and several lacerations on her face. The woman reportedly admitted to throwing a soda on the victim and pushing her onto the bed, but she said she could not remember whether she had hit the victim. The woman was charged with domestic battery.
