DQ Grill & Chill Restaurant will open in Alachua on Wednesday, Oct. 11
Press release from Dairy Queen
ALACHUA, Fla. – Alachua just got a whole lot tastier with a new DQ® restaurant in town.
American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ), the legacy brand beloved for its mouthwatering meals and tasty treats, recently announced its new DQ Grill & Chill® restaurant opening in Alachua at 10 a.m. on October 11. Located at 15993 NW 163rd Lane (on the south side of U.S. Hwy 441, west of I-75), the new restaurant is owned by Wanda Davis and Toks Achebe.
Wanda Davis and Toks Achebe own and operate Crossroads Portfolio Inc., a restaurant operational group local to Georgia. Serving as the group’s CFO and CEO respectively, Davis and Achebe have previously opened a popular Captain D’s Seafood restaurant, with an additional location in development. As the pair now readies to open their first Dairy Queen location, they aim to scale with both brands quickly yet steadily.
“We’re thrilled to be expanding our restaurant ownership portfolio, especially with an iconic American brand like Dairy Queen,” said Davis. “The support we’ve received from Dairy Queen so far has been outstanding, and we’re excited to open our doors to serve the Alachua community. We hope to make a lasting impact not only through connecting with the community members themselves, but creating new jobs that will benefit families across Alachua.”
Striking the perfect balance between yesterday and today, the DQ Grill & Chill concept modernizes guests’ dining experience by offering made-to-order lunch and dinner options including Signature Stackburgers®, Chicken Strip Baskets, and world-famous, soft-serve favorites such as cones, sundaes, and the iconic Blizzard® Treat.
I look forward to enjoying any new place, especially DQ. I do hope that the new owners will consider CCTV cameras in their new location, like Chipoltes have, to ensure that all employees follow Best Practices and will be held accountable if any foodstuffs is intentionally fouled.
