Driver fleeing traffic stop killed after head-on collision with semi

HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – A man driving at a high rate of speed on U.S. Hwy 441 in High Springs was killed this morning when he hit a semi head-on while fleeing a High Springs Police Department officer.
Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that a Mazda 6 was traveling north on U.S. Hwy 441 in High Springs at a high rate of speed this morning at 9:10 a.m. when a High Springs Police Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver continued to drive at a high rate of speed, eventually crossing the median near NW 210th Lane and hitting a southbound truck head-on. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased.
FHP provided no identifying information about the deceased man and indicated that his next-of-kin had not yet been notified. The semi driver, a 51-year-old man from St. Petersburg, was not injured.

No, fleeing the police makes you a POS criminal. Lights, siren, pull over. I wonder if his last thought the went through his mind before the asphalt poisoning was I should have pulled over. Only a dumb POS would think a Mazda could stop a semi.
